Drive that in the snow? Those were the worst of the worst rustbuckets from the ‘70s. If you even say the word ‘salt’ in its presence, holes in the fenders start to appear.
Think about how bad a car had to be in the 1970's to be recalled for its tendency to rust...

My impression was that the Volare/Aspen were to the Valiant/Dart what the Rover/Sterling 800 was to the Honda/Acura Legend.
In other words, people were left perplexed at how someone was able to turn something so famously reliable into, um, that.

It was called the Aspen Super Coupe. It was mostly an appearance p ackage but it could outrun a Trans Am to 60mph.

That is the most suicidal bullshit idea anyone has ever had. My dad had a 78 aspen from his company. It tried to kill him twice. In anything other that total dry, it was murderous.

There were a lot of bad 70s cars. These aren’t as well known as the Vega, Pinto, and Chevy Citation, but it’s right there with them, quality-wise.
